The End of an Era

Believe it or not, classes at the University of Auckland ended this week (contrary to popular belief, I actually do go to class!). Finals are here and the semester is almost over. Today was my first final and I think I did well; now I just have two more exams to go before I leave Auckland on November 14th - which is 3 weeks away! Time sure does fly.

Grrrrr...You Animal!

Last Saturday, we all headed to Victoria Market, an outdoor flea market located near the downtown area. One of the shops sold animal headpieces, which Julia of course insisted we try on. Don’t we look gggrrreeattt?

Gone Clubbin'

Since we all had a ton of work to do during the week of Bethany’s birthday, we celebrated her big day by going out that weekend. We got the party started in Christa’s room before heading out to Float, a club down by the Viaduct (I am not really sure what I was doing in this picture; I think I had too much of whatever was in my mug). At one lounge we stopped in, Soul, we supposedly met the “World Kickboxing Champion” Eddie Somebody. Eddie claimed that he was going to be featured on New Zealand’s “60 Minutes” that upcoming Tuesday. We forgot to check out the programming but I am pretty sure he was just joshing us. He was really cute though.

Happy Birthday B-Spice!

Bethany, aka B-Spice or simply B, turned the big 2-2 on October 13th. Christa reckoned it was a special birthday because she was “evenly divisible by 11.” To celebrate the occasion, Julia, Christa, and I cooked our 4th amiga a special Mexican birthday dinner – fajitas, guacamole with chips, and sangria. The food turned out great! After the main course, the party moved upstairs to my room where we presented B-Spice with a birthday cake, serenaded her with the birthday song, and give her the best birthday gift ever: 4 bottles of Diet Coke in two of her most beloved flavors, Regular and Raspberry. It was definitely a down-home birthday celebration. From top to bottom: here’s Julia chopping the veggies, next is Bethany and her (near flammable) birthday cake, and there she is again snuggling up to her birthday gifts.

An Evening in Stretchy Pants

Following a most delectable dinner, my friends and I rolled ourselves back to our rooms to change into what Bethany calls, “stretchy pants”; you know, the kind of pants you crawl into after stuffing yourself at dinner. Everyone was acting a little wacky that evening, as you can probably tell by the pictures.

An Evening in Venice

Each semester, the Railway Campus hosts a formal banquet dinner to commemorate the end of the school term. This year’s theme was An Evening in Venice and the foyer looked beautiful in its Venetian-style decor. Here I am with my lovely ladies standing in line for dinner. Julia just loves being her own photographer.
