The Perils of Adulthood
Studying abroad here in New Zealand has been amazing! What hasn't been so amazing is learning to cook for myself. While I am usually a wiz in the kitchen at home -- I make a mean seafood gumbo -- I have felt completely uninspired to prepare a meal for myself since arriving. This is due in large part to the uninviting and impersonal communal kitchens in my dorm. My meals up to this point have typically consisted of Wattie's frozen vegetable stir fry, ramen, or salad. Tonight, tired of the same ol' stuff, I decided to put a pot to the stove and actually COOK something for the first time in weeks! I made spaghetti with whole wheat pasta and it was FABULOUS (I think its appetizing taste was due to the fact that I haven't had real food in almost a month). Although I am nowhere close to making gourmet meals like my culinary group-mate Jon, I am certainly on my way.

Hi Sam! I just read your blog and it sounds like you're having a wonderful time. I hope you're internship continues to go well -just make sure you don't become a wino, lol! Anyway, have fun and stay safe. We miss you!

Oops, I spelled "your" wrong and since that's a big pet peeve of your Uncle Mario's, I figured I better correct it, lol! I wrote "I hope you're internship goes well" but it should be "your internship." Okay, I really do have a life...really!
